Central Pain-specific Computer Adaptive Testing algorithm for PROMIS Item Banks Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS), funded by NIH, is a system of reliable and responsive assessment tools that measure patient-reported health status. Its item banks are designed to be administered by computer adaptive testing (CAT), however, in a generic manner. A research group in the medical school of University of Michigan has reported an improved algorithm that uses the same item bank but adds significant precision to the measurement of clinically relevant aspects of fibromyalgia.
