Online evidence-based practice training modules support behavioral healthcare practices

One of the common problems in healthcare today is the establishment of common practice which relies on empirical data, patient specific needs, and the expertise of the healthcare professional. Evidence-based practice has been established to account for these needs. Although this practice has been around for numerous years, many professionals either do not receive proper training in this practice or are not following the core ideas properly. In order to provide adequate training in these practices researcher at The University of Michigan have developed online training modules focusing one six core elements of patient interaction where evidence-based practice can provide the most support. These highly interactive modules not only teach the practices they provide examples of real life situations of behavioral healthcare communication. Supervisors and behavioral health staff who have completed the modules are overwhelmingly positive about the usefulness of the modules to their learning and the applicability of the learning to their current work.
